Hi Craniac,

No, it's not a secret but rather just never discussed. There's a great sign heading on the cape that says "Mashpee Sandwich" (an exit for two cape towns) and I always thought that sounded like a terrible lunch item. It may have even been the original first name.

Thanks for checking out Brambles. Pass it along to others! THanks!

Please don't fret just because it isn't in the collection. You can download it as a single I beleive from MySpace, and when you burn your playlist, you can make your own 13-song version of "Birds", completely unauthorized by Bryers. I'm going to put a Peter Cetera song on MY personal copy of Birds.

Posted by: cultureofnone on 01-12-09

oh, my. is "Speed Queen" not one of the tracks on 'Birds'? i adore that song!

right, well i guess expecting that drastic of a process acceleration isn't rational is it. *shrug* well if it makes any difference,I myself as Steve,am NOT a wound up nature show host or school shooter or some random person who cant manage to get off their ass without external encouragement or anyone else I killed who's name was Steve.THAT Steve is DEAD in the final context of the word and no one in their RIGHT MIND cares, to continue identifying with him as a living being. This is ludicrous.

everything is enchanted. enchantment is the more melodic synonym of entropic gravity touching closer to its etheric nature as you see it takes the cemetary out of the song in essence linguistically. take, for example, my radio. it's an inexpensive cd player and am/fm model with no tape player and no clock- i had the option to let my mom get me a pricier model because it was a birthday gift but the other model was unaesthetic. the brand name printed on it demanded attention. this little guy doesn't ask me to look at it. after my mom bought it for me i gave it back then bought it off her, which sounds like nonsense maybe but thats what i had to do for it to be mine. now its in my aparment sitting on the microwave, plugged into the wall (the radio is, not the microwave), but i never use it, nor do i intend to. i never turn it on. i don't own any cds and i'm not interested in the radio stations. it's just important, for some reason, that that thing is there. it's existence and presence in my apartment in and of itself is the manifested expression of the radio station i'm listening to, the radio, at least that part of it that is there merely to act as a mental reference point to the radio, to itself, to the essence of the here and now that is the true raw nature of time as it would otherwise be forgotten in the false context of memory. there is no music that is richer than this. there is no signal stronger than silence as all sound is contained within it. everything is enchanted by silence. the strength of an existences enchantment is measured by the strength of its silence. this is true for all of existence including within the context of music as expressed in the wake of silence.

there's obviously a direct connection between time travel and the dimensions. when a person time travels the first thing that happens is that they effectively erase their original timeline, so there has to be somewhere for te traveller to be wen their originating timeline is gone, and that is the dimensions/dimensional existance, which is the same as the place refered to as the other side, which is accessable by degree of indisposal to physicality, of course. it i by order of the cessation of interest in the expression of the local timeline that the traveller is imparted visibility within this field, and this process may be expressed in varying degrees of speed. the traveller for example may wish to sift bulk from their observed expression or to purge it, perhaps in haste, which would lengthen the process, as more bulk would then be created while attempting to escape entropic gravity which no one can do on the other side or on this one.

dude, how are you going to say that it's SAD that a kid named after a plastic fork and spoon combination i ate parfaits from kentucky fried chicken with when i was the same age he was when we were both on the farm does better growing up in the mainstream, using a username that's just a ripoff of kira's, and an incoherent one at that, and expect to be taken seriously? i mean, by anyone intelligent, obviously you succeeded in shutting down the thread and making a spectacle of hipforums moderatorship, but that's beside the point. or is it. heh. nevermind. good job genius.

Posted by: post regarding revel's ego trip in zendik forums on 01-28-08

Revel: (clears throat) Everyone (in the context of this dicussion) IS Arol, and everyone else here for that matter. You ARE a weak masochistic conceited bitch, and a failure at life. I AM intelligent and confident enough not to bother wasting my time either advising or commanding you to "get some class" as I DO recognize the boundary between my responsibility and yours, and that IS the reality you have to face every day of your life, waking or sleeping. I AM the winner of that and any other existing argument for that matter, and I AM at this moment as these words are spoken, a better zendik than you, a better man than you, and a better person than you, BECAUSE my response to life is YES, to knowing that the one bearing the devils advocate excuse is the fool, the martyr, the retard, and the loser, being yourself, in that matter, of course. Cheers (to me). Blan.

Posted by: whats wrong with my name on 01-25-08

god IS us, and wether or not i care about you doesn't need to be ADVERTISED. this dilema is the foundation of the zendik cult, which is founded and led psychically by me simply because i bear that name, and am conscious of it's fallacy, and THAT's what's behind zendik. That's the whole thing.

Posted by: post regarding jyre on 01-25-08

the mistake failed zendiks, like jyre, for example, make, is trying to fix their identity. it sounds ridiculous unless you know how to take it into context but it's true and i've made the same mistake myself but i'm aware of it and caught myself while i was doing it so i'm not down talking myself or anyone else for that matter, i'm just telling it like it is. the name "jyre" means "i'm wasting my time at this very moment erroneously trying to fix my identity". that's actually what it means, its a combination of the words joker and liar. proof: personal ad this person posted. http://www.adultmatchdoctor.com/profile_jyre.html anyone who posts a personal ad is a joker and a liar.

Posted by: frog on 12-22-07

something about kira prattling at hip forums about some guy who got his music equipment appropriated by zendiks who said you owe us rent when in reality what happened is that guy set that up deliberately as a donation and we all appreciated that, especially myself, the guy he ran down the basic functions of everything to, after which i left and made no further mental regard to the equipment the moment i walked out of the room, but the point is i would have talked to kira when she was there if i knew who she was but i didn't get to that information until after all the zendik threads at that forum were locked. anyway, hi again, kira, whoever you are now.

In the year 2000 I purchased a time machine from a mail order catalogue. I can't access the exact date in my memory at the moment but Steven Gibbs is the machine manufacturer and sales agent. All of my written journals at that time were destroyed. Successfully clearing the zero vector in the process of a given time jaunt involves ascension through Christ and "unibomber" consciousness for any chrononaut (time traveller). The "9/11" wtc bombing event served, in this timeline, as an escape route for an otherwise potential nuclear war. What I did was program the unit to "take me to a timeline where the wtc towers no longer stood". All further implications infused that statement. I am the original author of Herman Keypad's Disadvantage published and performed by Screwtape on Anthemunanthem, but not the reprise. This is neither a boast or advertisement, but an indication of a map point in my timeline, in correlation with the current survey of North Korean disarmament. The following url links to the yahoo group i created three months after the bombing to help track history of time machine usage in this timeline.

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/thegibbsgroup/

Just for the record of having made this statement, I am also the original creator and writer of homestarrunner.com.

i understand the pull to be nitpicky. i've grown past the name calling issue, especially since i've been to the farm, because if someone is a fucktard or a moron or a dimwit that's the truth of it and i am empowered by that truth to express it without guilt, while being full aware that i'm only refering to myself, and the observance of self-defeating thinking and behaviour in others pisses me off to an equal degree, but in the context of this metaphoric fucktard principality being weeded out, i just don't see it that way.

my long enigmatic lack of identity is just another one of those nitpicky details, and i'm as of yet unable to release it but i chose the comment board of this website to pirate for the discussion because it is an antiquity of the era in question. the specific months were june july august and the better half of the month of september in the year 1993. no one on or off the farm will be able to help you identify me though, because i had no identity even when i was there. the name that i took when i arrived mysteriously dissolved on the spot. the members spoke amongst themselves about this guy who had that name but failed to recognize it when addressed by it as in amnesia. the reason this occured is because i'd been followed there by time cops, and every time i turned around, i omitted myself from the time circuit and disassociated with every last person i'd made any connection with within it. anytime i talked to anyone or vice versa, i was meeting them for the first time. this phenomenon continued from the moment i arrived to the moment i left, caused extraterrestrial intelligence accelleration as a side effect, compeltely freaked kyro (who at that time also bore a different name) out from the beginning, and later chen even though he was one of the people aware of what was occurring was alarmed by a wave of bizarre magical information that came out of nowhere indicating, initially, that two unidentified people would soon be killed by a hypnosis script reading "i am two", and although the message indicated that the targets were not farm members, it was very important to know who they were because the matter pertained to premeditated destruction in the immediate outerlying ring of the pylon and if something went wrong the targets could possibly be changed but not pardoned, meaning that since the message was recieved directly from me to him, those two alternates could have been us. fortunately, no such alteration occurred and two people in my family were killed by diseases. the reason the "i am two" assassination script didn't sink me personally is because i created it, when i was two years old, with conscious intention to kill those two people, but in order for it to work i couldn't hold an identity in that circuit beside the number two. it feels good to finally be one again, and i remember that name i went to the farm with, but it had no pronunciation, and any incorrect attempt to pronounce it executed a hypnotic disassociation command on the former i am two script. one of the primary concerns while this was going on is that i had murdered my parents, which would have resulted in what we refer to as deportation, but when the two pursuing time cops finally caught up to me they were trebor and ace, relieved to understand that i had a valid and necessary reason for doing what i did to the specific people who were revealed.

this information makes only the most microscopic approach at the answer to your question, but it's the best i can do. if you were there at that time, i'd a been the guy walking around acting like i was trying to think of a name. i was a good worker, i never burned the soymilk, the dogs were always barking at me because i was constantly "arriving", and thus being surrounded by barking dogs, which is common to newcomers, but for me it occurred several times daily and at a certain point i established a communication connection with some of the bewildered dogs, such as the goat herd guard dog who made attempts to simulate speech and formed a word or two on an occasion in my memory but i dont remember what it was.

Posted by: FTNW on 08-21-07

No, I'm not Kyro. I must ask though who are you and when were you at the Farm?
I'm not gonna come into your house and argue with you. I'm happy you had a positive experience at the Farm but I wish there were more people that had the same. Obviously three months is not enough time to see what is going on there. Please , if you do go back tell us at Hip Forums how your second ride was.
Anyway, the only issue I had with your posts was the calling of people fucktards, it's all in the past anyway.
Have a good one.

Posted by: gurd on 08-20-07

your quality of awareness to your own responsibility is admirable to whatever degree, sure, but i'm making no observation of the past. my statement is based solely on what i observe in the moment here on this board, which is very little, but it's enough to be worth a comment. the fucktards, ftnw, are the fucking retards, who have so many words with which to say nothing, by my own definition. to say that someone has a bad experience at zendik farm because they don't belong there in the first place is stating the obvious, and anything has the right to be a lie when it needs to be in whatever context within which it's a lie. i don't have to be high and mighty to express my understanding of this or any given thing, it's unfortunate, perhaps, for you, that you find the need to interpret it that way. what it all seems to come down to is that the discussion is nothing more than a degradation to an endurance contest for the last word, in which case my presence and participation are of no further use here...

this is completely out of character for me, but i'm going to make a quote because this caught my interest.

"my skils and art were beyond any zendik at the farm then or now"

the person i remember from there that might be able to get away with saying that honestly was kyro. i don't know what his name might be now, but if you're that person, no, things don't look quite the same around there minus your work, which we could argue was painful and depressing in its own right but certainly advanced from any zendik there now or then, whenever "then" is in reference to, some realm so far removed from where i've arrived on account of what was given to me by zendik, that all the shit talk about the other members just seems to me so obsurd, true as it may be, so what. i mean, i understand addressing faults, because that's the truth way, sure, but being hung up on them i dont understand in the context where it's their responsibility and not mine to follow through with ironing that stuff out or copping out and choosing not to, unless i'm there to help, but i'm not there, i'm the one just here to talk shit and be high and mighty, right? fine, you win. if i could be anywhere else but here i would be, you know. i mean, i'm not making any friends here, i'm just bein' carved for defending zendik over the issue of confusing confidence for arrogance, but that's fine because... *shrug* I'm happy you're here. I agree with you about Wulf in the sense that I think he was masochistic and ill, we're on the same page there, but i respect his efforts... i'm saying that i'm seeing past people's faults. if we're fucktards or if it's just me, i can see that as an obstacle or i can see it for what it is, wow, i love myself so much, what a high and mighty freak i am, huh?

the people at zendik recognized me as another human being because i did the same for them, in being myself and not trying to be any one of them, in respecting myself first, that's how i was recognized and accepted there, as a core member of my own self, and that's how community works by its true definition. we understand that I don't have to explain or prove this to anyone but myself. you were one of those people, to refresh my own memory, if you are who i'm guessing you might be here, and for that hint my reception has improved..

the idea of not being able to express my art when i was at the farm was not an issue for me. my interest there was in farming. that's why i was there, and yes i ate very well because that was also my interest and that's why i was there. my artistic niche before i came to the farm was songwriting, but nothing came to me in that element while i was at the farm and that wasn't a problem because thats not why i was there. some people knew this about me, one of which was arol, and she never trashed me about it, unless i'm not clear on the definition. i was never informed by anyone either directly or peripherally that my art was an invalid product of the deathculture. i was informed, on the other hand, that it was in fact valid and a product of a very benevolent and creative part of my being. i wrote songs, and i gave them away, and people published them and got rich while i got stuck in the social security circuit where i remain to this very day, and I've got nothing to complain about. I don't consider myself a martyr. I take care of myself, and i can still hear my work on the radio and such. i guess i allegedly have money somewhere according to information relayed to me by trebor way back in 94 but how i'm supposed to access it is apparently a complete mystery, and it doesn't matter, i'll cross that road if and when i come to it, and it was the inspiration of zendik that allowed it all to happen in the first place, so i'm not completely clear on where you're coming from with that "your art is shit" line, because i know darn well it is, but to a lot of people in that shit realm it was gold and enlightenment and a way out, as much as yours or wulfs was, it was created out of love, not selfishness or a desire for money, and that's what made it what it was and is, and it was all tranformative.

my only problem seems to be that i'm so poor i can't manage to figure out how to get to zendik farm on my own autonomous leg... that's the one i'm still working on.. if and when i do make it, i'm not going to be holding grudges in regards to who's sleeping with who any more than i did back then, as i'll most certainly have more productve things to do with my time, thankyouverymuch, and i don't have the impression that arol is lying to anyone, my observation and experience is that she's pretty straightforward all around, so i'm not clear on where you're coming from with that other than the generic tendency people in the world have of blaming eachother for their own lies, which is fine, i mean, that's where it's at, i've been prone to it myself. i could be wrong, of course, but i don't currently see any genuine supporting evidence outside the suspension of your word against mine on that issue.

...so is that what i was supposed to say? or was i supposed to just play along and be like "yeah man, zendik, what a bum trip, i was lied to too, they fucked me and took my hamster", and then reveal that we both remote viewed this conversation one day at the farm fourteen years ago while i was wiping the sweat bullets off my brow in the heat of my own emerging sanity? i could have summed this whole thing up with the word "whatever" or dropped it entirely and went out for a beer. so who did i just do all this for? my good looks? chumley doright? i see, very well, point taken, well goodbye then.

just to say it, because i like to say things just to say them sometimes, you wont succeed in herding me off the farm with post zendik and emphasis on harsh reality, why, because this much we've both learned about eachother, whoever you really are, it doesn't matter, that we are far evolved and removed from taking things at face value.

amen.

so what about "lying"? i lie too, it's part of being true, i'm not oblivious to the definition of active truth, my newbie stay lasted three and a half months and the only backstabbing i witnessed/experienced was my own which was right about when it was figured out that i was distracted by personal agendas and didn't belong there at that time. i was very happy to be there until it made sense to leave, and i wrote out a letter explaining the reason for it as if it wasn't obvious but i needed to do that at the time to help myself organize my own thoughts. my time and experience there was most eternally appreciated, as confusing for me by my own error as it was, i never blamed my problems on someone else, on the farm or in the world. i never wasted my time doing this. so go ahead and throw the rest of whatever bullshit about the farm you think you have on me out or call out whatever else you feel i'm not aware of, i'll still see through it and defend the integrity of zendik farm in my own observation and experience, which, granted, was a mere three and a half month stay against your thirty years or whatever, but it's not a contest for me. if what zendiks do is over someone's head they don't have to be there, i understood it but left for personal reasons. i had to burn out a drug habit and a smoking habit and write another three hundred songs and disarm north korea and whatever it was that i had to do because i was still crazy, before i could honestly approach my interest in being there. no one there made any effort to program it out of me, control my thinking, or fucking. when i encounter these allegations i'm neither perplexed or offended by them, i understand their root, and that helps me sleep, and what else is there to say besides blah blah blah now then? there's far more to zendik than its current location and collection of people living on it, and confining the discussion to that or the idea that every individual that's been there and left is an emotioally and spiritually injured veteran is really dumb, because I'm not one of those people, which infuriates you to shatter your bubble on the issue I suppose, to go along with the game or story maybe, and I'm certain I can't possibly be the only one, but maybe there's a metphysical rule that says this information is supposed to be processed, not published, so don't quote me on that because i never said a word of it. what makes this a lie is my ability to edit my posts here, but i've found a way around this.

A cover of "Stain" by sir Curt of Cobain is now stuck in my brain with a train and a chain and some grain in a cane, in the rain, what a pain, if it were to remain, but it goes down the drain, cuz I mailed it to Spain, to Elaine, and to Jane, her great dane and her crane, who'll be slain by aunt Shane next Beltane, Dave Mustane.

It is great to hear Violent Apathy playing out again. It brought me back to the days of the Kalamazoo hardcore scene. I recall such memorable shows as Naked Raygun and Spite at the WMU East Hall Gym, or the Fake Necros Gig at the blackspot. Whatever happened to Bill Axe who used to play with Spite? He palayed with Rolling Head then what? Scotty Boman Ran for Leutenant Governor (and lost).

Well at least Tommy Fuller is still keeping the spirit alive, Kenny knott never quit. Richard Bowser proves Spite right when they sang "Bowser Rules!"

I believe Radio Caroline was from East Lansing, pre-Nirvana era, playing what used to be called "college rock". One might try the record store "Flat, Black & Circular", if they're still in operation, but I don't think they ever did a CD. Vinyl maybe.

Um, I could try writing Toolmaster from Phil A Sheo, but he is infrequently online and lives in Sweden.

Posted by: Fred249x on 03-30-07

So I played a show with Phil A. Sheo & the Goods a long time back in Chicago at a bowling alley. My friends girlfriend bought the cd but they broke up and I was thinking about this song on the end of the album. Anyway, if there's anyway to get me a copy of that album, It'd be so much appreciated. Thank you.

Posted by: Jeff himself on 03-10-07

Hi Chris, I've never even heard of Radio Caroline so I'm pretty sure I wasn't in the band. I never played with beans, although I did play with his drummer, Karl Faulhaber and his bass player Ryan. I wouldn't mind hearing that tape myself. Thanks!

Posted by: Chris Felax on 03-09-07

Where can I get Radio Caroline on CD or mp3? I used to love that tape and Glen Wiseman got me a copy back in 1991! Jeff, I didn't even realize you were in the band! I found your site via Al Wiseman's site via looking for Glen's email address in Google. Take care - www.shrubslicer.com

Posted by: Animal on 11-29-06

Hey, kids, it's your semi-annual blast from the past here. Last time I stopped by, I was on a nostalgia kick; went out hunting for a bunch o' folks but apparently the GeniusDesecratistrys and Spoonbenders and Liverboxes either don't remember who I am or don't much give a crap, which that's cool, I don't remember who I am or give a crap either, so we're of a mind on that score...kinda bummed that nobody put the message board to use though, could have been a good way for folks to keep up with each other.

ANYWAY

This is the ONLY way that ANYBODY knows of having a snowball's chance in hell of tracking down Senor Oberlin's ex-wife Carla the Dubbayew, who also happens to be a classmate of mine from string orchestra going back to second grade...and a 1998 graduate of portage northern. We're planning a reunion, and nobody knows where to get in touch with her to send the invitation. So someone let her know we're out looking for her. I can be reached via john at lowgenius dot com.

By the way, if anyone happens to remember Jason Gentry, who I played with in the opening band, Axis, at the first of what would eventually become Kalapalooza, he died. Bummer.

The updates are so lame because I'M so lame. BUT the record I've been working on since 2003 is still moving along. I bought new brushes.

SPeciaAL Treat: Original Thought Industry member DR. DAN ROE (OK, DESECRATOR, so really original TI) will be doing sessions at my new studio this weekend. Maybe there will be some output posted here from that!

The Kzoo music site will be out this fall it at all.

Thanks for your post!

I like the Kzoo mp3 site as well. It would be neat to have a then and now section. Post old tunes/performances and then perhaps something more recent. Coax Halsey into an acoustic number from his Portland nest, for instance.

Posted by: Sahlgren on 03-08-06

A Kzoo mp3 site's a great idea. There's a Sinatra's CD that's been completed but who knows if it'll see the light of day...
FAQ stuff, a complete unreleased Doxie album, Twitch singles... shit, how about "jaundice baby"?

Posted by: Jeff himself on 03-01-06

I am considering a Kzoo MP3 site (I have my own web server) that should have everything for Kzoo iPods. It sounds like there would be at least a little interest. I would need to collect permission from the musicians first. I guess I would be a good guy to go around and do that...

Ayn Rand snuck in my window many summer nights during my stay in monestary. I listenned to too much world radio and bbcnn. Crackers are dumb everywhere. I missed that sound: the kazoostank stench like assholes in my earholes. Michigan is drenched in january -- all hail dat G, wB for excellent environmental policy. Fuck a Captain Planet, peanut! The zoo has an anal animated film festival these days. Does that mean we have anibaters here, too? Could add fresh blood to old vampires. Did anyone ever make music in the zoo that might have fucked up the M&M munchin', fallout toys flocks with an accompanying cartoon videotrack? The bible belt should be eatin' THD for breakfast right now, but the closet fruits are suckin' up Nipple Back. My cuntree - I like the way that looks - is more backward than ever I can remember and I put that on the shoulders of every one of you Genius Hired Overem. Brats and Buggers, the lot of you. This is your nation to hold at point and then not give a fuck for, not the other way about. Balls, boys. The birds got more than you. Primes aren't for cosmosnuts. Bend folds in their brains that we might stick more wires in. It's good for them. They like it. I want that shit back. Can we make the song thick with story like chocolate sex smut stinking sweathog chewy sweet stuff? ungh. Makes my mouth dry. Wrap the world in epics of burning skys; drunken boat trips for the burnt out; chasing god's spiders off the moon on bicycle -- red steeds for the coyboys -- and include pictures for the passers by this time so they may see what you're all screamin' about. Motion pictures.
It might be worth a couple note$. Fuggin' Phill Collins sold his soul to satan to do cartoons and his songs aint got half the color of the shit you kids have smeared on tape, disc and ipod.

The golden age of Kalamazoo's music scene set to break out instead broke up. Our platinum talent turned aluminum scrap when all got too fat and alcoholic. These days the zoo sound all damp moldy -- no ballads for bugs or un/anthems complex and disturbing. These kids all tame -- docile pets of the keepers -- wouldn't bite at a fly. My zoo's full of sleepers. I hate you all as much as I love you -- making deals with the devil; growing up / giving up. Sure, you escaped from the zoo, but you let them first beat the wild out of you. What a waste of the great to let rift-raft nirdvanas and verve pips take crowns while you lions and tigers got grey-haired, made babies, got drunk and skipped town. I'd sail away, drive the bus off the bridge, make out with gutter corpses, sleep with baby Jesus in Bronson Park -- I just want the music back -- my zoo is too dull, grey -- a sniveling beast in the dark. For fuck's sake.... ahhh fuck it. I need a beer. I love you guys, but you all really suck.... and my tooth hurts.

Posted by: Animal (redux) on 12-21-05

I remember ol' Johnny With An Eye, they won that f'n thing by playing 'The Sounds Of Silence,' remember that? In case you're having trouble remembering (and we jammed like once when 'freebird' altman had that thing going at the old fruit company...you and me and bogema, as I recall)...that battle of the bands? I was the drummer in the 2nd place outfit, the ones that did all the buttmetal (tmDustin) covers. St A's at the first downtown new year's thingie. Name of the band was 'Push.' A million others, too..even before that was 'Ucidian' with that black dude Terry who I saw a few years back got out of prison and told Marci Persky he'd been on some nature-hike in Uganda...first 'real band' I can remember was me, Spaeth, and a cat named Rob Singleton on Bass in...hell, probably 1985 or 6? Maybe earlier. It all blurs together, especially after spending several years drinking with Matt Bogema (I'm guessing he's lost what little hair he had left last I saw him, which was like 10 years ago, if he's even still alive).

If anyone ever talks to Spaeth (if *he's* still alive...mortality rate among musicians is too high, dammit) tell him Animal said 2 things: 1: What the hell ever happened to Darin Thomas? 2: Ask him if he still remembers how to play 'Looks That Kill' (yes, THAT Looks That Kill).

I'm an old bastard now. My daughter's older than I was when I did that BotB. Lots of lost memories and lost health due to the ravages of lifestyle poisoning, k'zoo-style...but damn, what a great, great time. Remember all those parties @ the 4peace house on westnedge? Like the 60s, if you remember you weren't there...

If nothin' else, thanks for a poignant lil trip down memory lane, Jeff. *sigh* I guess a lotta people have parted ways and soap operas galore and whatever, I probably got out of town at the right time. Peace and good will to all the people that used to be my life. Anyone wants to fill me in on the last decade of 'zoolife, drop me a line, john@ lowgenius dot com

I heard some Swedish label was going to release it (Seriously) if they don't I will . . .

By the way Jeff have you got while the getting is good because I'm going to take it all down.

Posted by: Jeff on 08-07-05

I'm not sure if this matters, but I'm not sure 'Birds' is 'officially' 'released' yet i.e., I'm not sure if Bryers has willfully bestowed it onto the world.

He should, though.

Posted by: Paulie on 08-05-05

I would really appreciate any kind soul who might have the willingness to share a CD-R burn of "Birds" - I'm sure others would benefit from the further distribution of this certain masterwork. Sleet and twitch still get plenty of spins over here, and I always wanted to see a full length effort from Knives are Quiet... please share the
wonderment here on one of the few remaining forums for prime-era Kzoo natives, thanks!

part 2 P.S.
oh yeah... the TOOL MASTER has been running around naked & drunk in sweden too... so not much has changed for Joel. He still has a 40 oz in one hand and a smoke on the other. In fact he's still wearing that BUNCA car wash hat to cover up his ever growing bald spot. you gotta LOVE that kid. He's the BEST!!! Now he's a Daddy...

Also: (and i'm gonna get killed for this but....)
if you have'nt heard CHRIS BRYERS (twitch/sleet) latest solo CD titled "Birds" you are missing out on one of BEST CD's I've heard in many moons. this kid writes some of the best pop songs I've heard in years and I'm not just saying that cuz he blows me once in a while.... this is a brilliant record. Every person i play it for loves it! And you can't get any more indie than making a CD in your bedroom on a computer and then only making 5 copies for your friends to hear but noone else. so... he's gonna kill me for writing this but you GOTTA hear this CD. if you want a copy i guess ask bryers but I'll burn one for you if you can't find him or talk with him. CHECK IT OUT!!!! you'll dig it for sure.

Posted by: jim cherry on 07-29-05

i have the TOOL MASTERS (joel johnson) address in SWEDEN or E-mail if you want it. e-mail me at worldwirelessfilms@yahoo.com and I'll give it to whoever wants it. Joel just had a BABY GIRL!!! and he is rocking the fuck out of SWEDEN.

Posted by: Leigh T. on 07-26-05

Does anyone have email/info on the Toolmaster? I need to check and make sure that he's not still trying to ride his bike naked to the store to buy beer...

I don't necessarily need an original copy. It would just be great to have the music. Craig or Jeff, if either of you want to send me an email and arrange to send me a CDR, get ahold of me at ghostofthesun@hotmail.com. It would be much appreciated.

Posted by: Craig on 04-08-05

I'm sure I can burn a copy for you Steve. Jeff don't you have a copy anymore? I thought all of us must have recieved a promo from our label mates.

Posted by: Steve on 04-08-05

Thanks for the reply. I know for a fact that it's going to be very hard to come across since like I said, I've literally been searching for years in the Kalamazoo area and I haven't came up with anything. I doubt I would have much luck with any of the filesharing programs. I'll keep watching the board here and if anyone wants to share any of those tracks with me via email or otherwise, let me know. I'd really appreciate it. Also, Jeff or Craig - if either of you guys get in touch with anyone that is affiliated with Twitch or the members themselves, like you suggested Jeff, ask them about hosting the tracks here on TASM. Thanks!

Posted by: Jeff on 04-07-05

Its going to be really hard to find. You might need someone to burn it for you. Steve Martin's wife should put up a twitch site and post all of their music, or sell burned one-off's of their CDs on CD Baby.

Actually, I'd post their material with permission.

You might try the P2P networks. Or if you can find the boards related to oceans of regrets/usagainstall.

Posted by: Steve on 04-06-05

You wouldn't happen to know where I could find a copy would you? Actually, I wouldn't mind having either the cassette or the CD. I've been looking around Kalamazoo for years it seems. I remember buying it originally at Boogie way back, but I haven't seen it since.

Posted by: Craig on 04-05-05

Homewrecker? By Twitch? Yes, released on Depression Records.

Posted by: Steve on 04-04-05

Does anyone know if Homewrecker was ever printed on CD?

Posted by: Craig on 03-20-05

There might of been a buffet backstage, but I don't know if I ever found the backstage.

Posted by: Till himself on 03-16-05

There was a BUFFET? Are you sure it was 93? I think we played in the 92' edition (was there such thing?) which I don't remember having a buffet at all.

Posted by: Joe Lawless on 03-13-05

Geeze, when my band from Detroit played the '93 Kalapalooza it was the best time ever (up until that time). I regret not getting to the first buffet, however, as we were not a main stage band, and thusly had to settle for the 2nd buffet. But hey, no complaints.

I gave up the Internet jobs for poker-related jobs this past year. Better money, baby. Gamble up!

Posted by: Rockman on 03-02-05

Well, I'll try to tie these together... Auh-'Rykk, the scene fell apart with Jar going to Ireland after portland and after kzoo, both places where Karla and Craig have hung out. It was Brent's scene to start with. In fact, Kalapalooza was probably booked by him. But thanks so very much for coming to Kalapalooza. I'm sure there's a vibrant scene somewhere, but kzoo may only grow one every century or so.

Posted by: Craig on 03-02-05

Ireland? I hung with Brent and Karla in Ireland. If you go to Dublin, drink at the Queys and think of the three of us hammered and singing irish pub songs.

Posted by: Jared on 03-01-05

Nomatter how many jobs I hold...states I funk up with my goo...the Tasm site always makes me feel home. Thanks Jeff. Ireland's the next stop. Failure in Portland and then Seattle. The endless search for a sugar momma continues...Ireland houses many a tolerant wench...we'll see just how tolerant. Hi Jeff. I hope your 2005 is a triumph (not the band) Sincerely,
Jared (a.k.a. "touch&go" Bryant)

Posted by: Auh-'Rykk on 02-15-05

I am really happy that I was able to expierence Screwtape at Kalapalooza II. I went both nights and was just blown by the sound of that time in K-Zoo. I have yet to actually see anything that great or a scene in K-Zoo that energetic.

Now when ever I meet new people and they ask me about the local scene I hype it as much as possible. But I can't help but tell them that they are really late. Then go into the my CDs and grab the local stuff from the early to mid 90's and let them listen to what it was like.

Maybe someday we will see another creative force like Screwtape, King Tammy, Dead River Drag, Sleestacks, Sinatras, Thought Industry, and all of the others that I have seem to have forgotten already.

*sniffle* Keep it real gang!

the whole cursive catalogue is worth picking up, including tim kasher's side project The Good Life.

"domestica" and "the ugly organ" are both amazing albums. the split ep with eastern youth entitled "8 teeth to eat you" is also some prime cursive.

Posted by: Jeff himself on 03-27-04

Steve, yes, they are the original pressing with different artwork. They are $15 (despite the misleading sign), afterall, there are only four left.

Posted by: Craig on 03-27-04

Thats the very basement I will be searching for whatever might be left of the original artwork. It scares me down there.

Posted by: Steve on 03-26-04

Alright, cool. So basically these CDs that you're selling at CD Baby aren't reissues or whatnot, but the actual first pressing with a new cover and artwork? I also noticed that up near the top, it says the CD is 13 dollars and on the CD Baby site it says 15. Which is it?

Posted by: Jeff himself on 03-26-04

The last four ARE the end of the first pressing. The CDs have the drippy Depression logo and everything.

The folded card packaging, as I think Craig told me, was destroyed in a basement flood.

The new packaging has been one-offs. I wanted to use different artwork and have more of a "TASM" feel, as Screwtape the band was disbanded and TASM still has a little live energy.

The Re-issue of Screwtape will be re-branded as Screwtape and I'll use the 'classic' artwork (like the icon on the top of this page). We might dink with the mastering a bit (essentially turn up the volume) and add some bonus material if we have time. Maybe that Amphibian track and other live stuff will make it.

The sampling on the online amphibian track was terrible. Now that Nash and I have our own studio, we can be more prolific with the re-releases.

Posted by: Steve on 03-26-04

Oh and, what happened to that live clip you had for Amphibian awhile back? I dowloaded it, but had to reformat my computer and when I came back, it was gone. This is a kick ass song and it brings back alot of great memories. Any particular reason it was removed?

Posted by: Steve on 03-26-04

I'm in Kalamazoo also and have been searching just about everywhere for it. It sucks that all the old stores that had a wider variety of local music are long gone now (I think Boogie was where I originally bought the CD, I was probably 14 at the time, haha). Anyways, i'll pick up that reissue for now and i'll let you guys know if I come across any copies of the original.

Posted by: Craig on 03-26-04

I am the man with the old first issue CD card. In June I will be searching out stock in Kalamazoo Michigan for first issue Screwtape CD stuff. I might be able to find the original card but also might not. Jeff has been on me for years about this and June will be the time I find or dont find these. I will let you, Steve know.

Posted by: Steve on 03-26-04

That isn't the first pressing though, is it? I remember the copy I used to have was a one piece folded piece of cardboard that contained the front cover on one side, and the back was in black and white. It didn't come in a jewel case, but it came in a plastic sleeve. Is this the same one? I might just have to settle for the reissue if not. Also, are there going to be any more copies available after those last 4 sell out?

Posted by: Jeff himself on 03-22-04

You can buy one of the last 4 copies of the first pressing of Anthemunanthem here:

Or follow the big 'purchase cd' links to the above left!

If you were at Colin's show on Friday, you would know that at least 8 former members are still alive. Let's see...there was Herb, Mark, Cam, Paul, Mike, Brent, and me. WE only needed Spaeth, Lee, Donaldson, and Hutchinson ( unrecorded but still a former member)to have a complete reunion. As for T.I. The fact that there are still people out there who are unaware that ThOught Industry is no more, is exactly the reason for its demise. XXOO

Has T.I. perished??
If so I shall retire to my sub-lithonian lair.

Posted by: Craig on 03-07-04

Colin, send Decastro my e-mail and tell him Veritas is still alive and west.

Posted by: Colin on 03-07-04

I posted the news on Luke. You can contact me if you want to get in touch with Luke at Twanger88. I don't have permission to just post his e-mail.

Posted by: Jaroldhole Riviera on 03-06-04

The show last night was great. Brent is in fact...a cosmonaut.

Luke Decastro has been located on the planet. He lives in Australia and is married to chick named Roma. His e-mail address is given through me at twanger88@yahoo.com

Its a great e-mail address. You'd think kzoo only had four people in it. Jared@kzoo.com brent@kzoo.com etc., Or maybe that Dave was the mayor.

I think I'll send the motherfucker a fucking note.

Posted by: Dave on 03-01-04

As confusing as it is, Dave Grant's email is actually david@kzoo.com, not dave@kzoo.com.

Thanks

Hey Jeff, Thanks for the NPO links. Do you still love me? It's funny, I spent a bunch of money to get set up for online business, and so far I have sold 1 out of the 60+ laptops through it. Web-site, shmeb-site. Nothing sells like boots on the ground.

Your DNS has matured, Joby-san.

"Writing Red Letters" is a bully of jam. Looking forward to the rest.

Posted by: Jared on 02-04-04

I got kicked off the "fence" message board. I guess now that I am self employed, I have too much time on my hands...is that styx?

Posted by: Jared on 02-04-04

I noticed the site is a mess. You get at least one day to figure it out before I start bothering your mother. I can't wait to see you on the 11th. Haha Jeff Till, you don't get to see them! Jar

Posted by: Joby on 02-04-04

Oh and I'm not responsible for the "fence" site actually Jeff Borkowski Hijacked my coding so in a way I guess I am responsible for it haha Naw . . . I wrote thier Bio I just do oceans of regret and knives are quiet's sites rite now.

Posted by: Jeff himself on 02-04-04

Joby, you DNS is all a flutter, I can't get to your site any which way without hearing that the server can't be found.

Posted by: Jar the machinegun on 02-03-04

Nice try Joby..any real TI fan knows that was Dustin. I simply don't posses the reflex chaos of such calculated and beautiful paraflamadiddlishesness. I barely remember the song whale...oh I think I remember...didn't that one...no, I'm thinkin of another mindblending piece of extraordinary music Brent shat at us from his practice stance that we didn't play twice in a row and forgot. Someone would say something funny...we would laugh and drink more beer...then practice Third Eye, and forget all about the splender of the previous experiment. Brent is going to spit a 100 song album at us one of these days. I got a message from Bryers today. It was all broken up and I didn't call him back. I just remember hearing the words "Pink", "if it's green", "frog" and laughter after that for a spot. the "fence" site is cool, did you design that?

This will sound retarded but if you open that page and it places a"\" after the url delete that slash and then hit enter that works for me . . . Yahoo fucking BLOWS!!!

The 11th you say...why...that is just one more "one" away from an MZD chant! I would very much like the opportunity to come down and vomit runny chunks of that fine craft brew with you and your friends to. I can't keep this secret any longer...especially with the rhyme I just busted. I am actually the one that wrote all the lyrics for TI. You know, I wasn't that good of a drummer...hate to break it too you so harsh, but I actually for all pertinent arguements on my behalf was a rather poopie player. If I promise to come down to KraftBrau on the 11th, do you promise to blow gobs of smoke up my butt and make me feel better about my playing? The only music I did that I was proud of was the Guns stuff, and I only say that because it took the least amount of time. I think I have always hated playing, but was always good enough to fool people into a compliment. There were always moments...like the time I broke my knuckle on the rim of my snare drum and bled all over the place...that was punk. See you on the 111th

Hi Jared Thanks for the nice comments . . . Knives are Quiet is on Hiatus as is WAY to far for Chris to drive in all this snow and he has other things going on. He has been playing acoustic shows on occasion. We all want to continue Knives are Quiet and actually started recording some of the songs so Hopefully when snow starts to melt Chris will come back and rock with us some more. Oceans of Regret is playing Kraftbrau Wednesday the 11th of February the show is free and we go on early come hang out so we can be drunkand tell you how fresh your drumming is.

There is an mp3 of Knives are quiet doing a Cure tune at http://www.oceansofregret.com/knives I may swap it out soon with some other songs from that show if I ever decided which ones sound the least shitty . . .

and new oceans of regret stuff at http://www.oceansofregret.com

sometimes is loads crappy so if it dont work just hit refresh a time or two.

Thanks

Thanks for the cudos Carl. When is oceansofregret playing next? I am forcefeeding people laptops, but every once-in-a-while I like to sharpen my musical knife on the stone of this defunct and willemena/poundn'beers run stage here in ZooRopa. The last time I had the extreme pleasure of seeing Chris on stage was with "Ocean" it blew me away...almost as much as Willemena on public access. My mom always said, "if you can't say something nice...make sure it is bad enough to get back to them, then you don't have to worry about them calling you". Great advice from a wise woman that wears combat boots.

haven't visited in quite awhile. i see a whole bunch of ramblings.

first off, brent frequents the first to the fence board which you can visit at, you guess it... firsttothefence.com.
kevin was in town over thanksgiving but i didn't see him. your best bet at finding out his contact info would be via joby at oceansofregret.com. joby was speaking to him about doing a new hall of records site for him.

jared, you rock. had to say that since it had been a few years since it rolled off my tongue.

i never even knew a doxie 2 disc existed.

kalamazoo music scene is dead. quite literally. the piano bar has stolen the town away.

and last but not least, goethebeatle... you were supposed to have sent me that show a long time ago after i hooked you up with the medicine ball demos. i still want that show.

i have a vhs copy of the twitch reunion show. it is amusing.

also, bryers is rocking it out metal style with oceans of regret as a backing band in a new project called Knives Are Quiet. much more abrasive compared to his sleet endeavor.

i also have a copy of daddyhorse.

i think that is it.

you can all reach me via either faust655321@yahoo.com or caskew@wmis.net.

Fun, love and the need for a Doxie CD. Hello troopers...rhymes with poopers. Poop is funny. If anyone needs a laptop...look no further. (shameless plug I know) Hey Mr Verity, hey Mr Halsey. I have daddyhorse for anyone who gives me an address, you only have to buy a laptop from me and I'll send you one...just kidding, I don't have daddyhorse...but you should buy a laptop from me....just kidding...but you should. Seriously, I'll burn it and send it anywhere as long as I have drooled beer on myself while-est in your presence at least once from 1992-1999 For the TI answer...does anyone really care about the site of a defunct band? I'm shakin' & peein' for any cosmonaut dribblings...Is Brent alive and well? Anyone...is anyone out there? Is this thing on? Short wave the best TI album by miles...musicianship, content, and lyrics..eat that. It's the only TI album I can make it through anymore without pushing eject. I guess what I am getting at is I hope Brent is still making music, and I hope I can hear some soon. Jeff, your a musical freak...no, scratch that...your a musical SuperfreaK. Good night Johnboy.

Posted by: Craig on 01-27-04

Don't leave me out of this Doxie funfest!

Posted by: gbh on 01-24-04

email your street address (gbhalsey@yahoo.com) and i'll mail you a doxie 2. i just got a cd burner, which makes it much easier to copy cds than my previous method of etching binary code with a scratch awl by hand.

yes, i should own stock in home depot - obscene amounts of our income goes there.

good to read about the old kalamazooians here...thanks for your efforts.

anybody know what happens in kazoo these days? is mike roche able to keep busy? i was home over the holidays for my sister's wedding (her new husband is mike fuerst of knee deep shag fame, making the two of them a low frequency matrimonial tour de force) and it was hard to nail anyone down on the musical happenings these days.

Posted by: paulie/goethebeatle on 01-24-04

Yeah, I'll take the second DOXIE disc as well, I've got two copies of the first one, and an FAQ vinyl that I rock on a regular basis. So...how does a multi-million selling band like Thought Industry NOT pay their website bill...and yet an admirably self-motivated artist like Till/Tasm continue to provide our only tether to the K-zoo scene? Forgive me for an embarassing amount of honour, but I'm still playing Sleet/Twitch/TI/Killswitch/T.I. on a regular basis as I construct my Paula Abdul meets Dio pop epics (no...American Idol wouldn't have me...) and while we're on the topic, I do have a pocket-audio recording of the "last Twitch show" with tracks like Propeller and Wedding Day in very listenable form. I'm still here in Hamtramck, MI...anyone have any suggestions on where to go in the US (since y'all are scattered now) to cultivate a solid, affluent lifestyle?

Posted by: Jeff himself on 01-24-04

Hi Geoff! Have you garnered the appropriate Home Depot fetishes that accompany old age?

Mail me the second DOXIE disc, please. Everybody wants one.

The Oberlin kids have been MIA for a while. I've heard the best way is to call their mom in BC.

Posted by: geoffrey b halsey on 01-24-04

looking for a way to contact kevin oberlin - anybody got any idears?

molly and i are liviin it up out here in por tland...actually we work on our crappy house a lot and don't socialize much. but we're having fun doin that.

Itsucks: I wish I knew which drawing your were referring to. Perphaps a shortcoming in this comment system.

thoughtindustry.com has been down for months. No one paid the bill. Rumors only: Cosmonaught has recorded but I haven't seen it. The Doxie album exist but only a handful of people have a copy. I don't have one but would love one.

Posted by: Paulie on 01-07-04

What is the status of the Thought Industry website? It doesn't seem to load when I try to check it out (it's been that way for 'bout two months, mebbe.)...and any news on Cosmonaut? Or the never released Doxie 2nd LP?

Thanks for the kind words, Dave, but I'm trying to get people to PAY for this shit. Keep your yap shut about how fucking nice I am.

I'm really a goose.

Posted by: dave richardson on 12-29-03

I love this site! I've been a Thought industry fan for a long time, and through them, found out about Jeff.
I sent him a letter once, asking how to get the first TASM cd, and he sent it to me in good faith that I would pay him...which I did.
He also sent me a cassette of a lot of hard to find Twitch stuff. He also sent me a copy of the second TASM cd for free.
It's nice to know that there are good and trusting people in the world.
His art work is beautiful.
My favorite cd of his is Screwtape, great fun!

Posted by: PREGNETPUSSY on 12-16-03

Till, your site is totally grody (groddy?)

Posted by: Scotty on 12-11-03

I for one don't find your site disgusting. Saucy? Yes. "Off the hook"? Very possibly. But disgusting? Ah fuck no. Fo shizzle.

Posted by: Jeff on 12-08-03

Charles Brandford? Send me a proper note at jeff@tasmlab.com.

Lisa, I'm sorry you find my website is disgusting. I'm really a goose.
Since the redesign, it ends up that I've been getting a ton of traffic for "pictures of abortions" because of a page title. All of this interest, I figure, is coming from 'faces-of-death' type teenage boys who like a good gross-out, and jesus-freaks and other fundamentalist looking for something to be angry about. Was Lisa here for the free MP3s or the TI links? Hard to say. I've removed the abortion title, even though it was my biggest driver of traffic to date. I'd rather get two visitors interested in Nomeansno-rip-off bands than 100's of abortion rubber-neckers.
Hi Devon. Thanks for the snaps.

Posted by: Devon Lorrell on 12-08-03
