Boy, maybe, can't quite remember as it's almost 20 years (!) since its inception.

I think I picked it because it meant 'not moving' and it rhymed with my own last name.

Overman, with its fleeting, dull year-long spark didn't grab mass media attention. We did get a smidgeon here and there from some of Kalamazoo's finest publications. Craig gave all of these to a year ago and I was very happy that he kept them. To capture that "newsy" effect, I've scanned them as giant, ugly bit-maps (plus there was no way I was going to re-key them).

I don't think I realized how clever Marci Persky actually was until I re-read this parody article. Its not BAD, but its the best (if that makes sense).

Hi Craniac,

No, it's not a secret but rather just never discussed. There's a great sign heading on the cape that says "Mashpee Sandwich" (an exit for two cape towns) and I always thought that sounded like a terrible lunch item. It may have even been the original first name.
